Jingle Bell Christmas at The Royal Albert Hall
Sunday 18 December 2016
18th December we once again participated in a Christmas celebration at
the Albert Hall, with an early start from Cranleigh as this year the
performance commenced at 12-30. The venue was a delightful mass
of festive colour and lights and the ambience was celebratory and
appropriate for the time of year. Gwen had booked excellent seats
close to the front of the stalls.
The London Concert Orchestra and Capital Voices were on fine form, and
the two soloists, Laura Tebbutt and Tim Howar were both excellent and
joined in the spirit of the occasion with gusto. I was a little
concerned with the space available for the Jingle Bell Dancers, who
performed well with constricted availability of the stage!
This year there were far fewer carols than I had anticipated, and
the performance was more modern than usual, but no less enjoyable for
After the performance, we had plenty of time before the coach was due
to depart, and so we had the opportunity of lunching independently and,
in our case, enjoyed the festive lights in Kensington. On our
return to the coach, we were treated to a tour of the London sights
decorated for Christmas, and arrived back at Cranleigh almost 12 hours
after our departure.
Thanks as ever to Gwen for her organisation, and to an excellent coach driver.
